Look Twice
From "intelligent" materials to the promise of synthetic biology &ndash young design researchers explore the design potential of new technologies. With a keen, critical eye, they draw on current technological innovations and consider them further. For the exhibit, they are developing adaptive space installations and objects that fluctuate between reality and fiction, irritate, amuse, or make observers dream.

Selected for Artist Residency at Tsinghua University Beijing
In collaboration with Goethe-Institut China, Institut Français and Pro Helvetia, TASML will inaugurate its International Artist Residence Program starting from the second half of 2012. I will be working on a project linked to "Sensorium of the Extraordinary". This research initiative reveals and amplifies subdued and muted sensorial experiences through technological intervention and augmentation to bring awareness to otherwise imperceptible human capacities as well as the dynamic exchange between the self and its vibrant, sentient surroundings.
The selection of candidates was made by a jury consisting of the following German and Chinese media art professionals: Andreas Broeckmann (University Lüneburg), Ute Meta Bauer (MIT), Kristoffer Gansing (Transmediale Berlin), Jeffrey Huang (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and Zhang Ga (TASML).

Berlin Wild Life at Haus am Waldsee
Berlin Wild Life, a public art project with Michiko Nitta, is a tale about co-habitation of people and wild animals in the city of the future. From parasitical forms of animal architecture, to sanctuaries for forgotten species up to services with a symbiotic nature—all is possible with Berlin Wild Life. The project is part of
ÜBER LEBENSKUNST festival. And will be on display at Haus der Kulturen der Welt during the festival —and beyond at Haus am Waldsee's sculpture garden, both in Berlin.

Design in Aktion exhibition in Warsaw
Design in Aktion protestiert gegen Klischees. Design in Aktion

Uncertain Spectator at EMPAC
The Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) is pleased to announce Uncertain Spectator, a group exhibition confronting anxiety in contemporary art. The works presented deal with a general mood of uneasiness arising from recent political and economic events that frames a future rife with imminent threats. Uncertain Spectator not only responds to these unsettling situations, but also creates them by challenging individuals to step outside of a place of comfort both physically and emotionally.

Membranes Surfaces Boundaries. Creating Interstices at Aedes gallery Berlin
The exhibition was conceived by the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science and Kassel University jointly with the artists. The intention is to generate a differentiated exchange between science and art. For the first time, surfaces become a space of interdisciplinary negotiation. The exhibition contributions correspond to the scientific positions of a workshop bearing the same name which was organized by the Max Planck Institute and which opens simultaneously in Dahlem.
Introduction by Prof. Hans-Jörg Rheinberger, Director at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin.
